Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is an adaptogenic herb that’s popular in traditional Ayurvedic Medicine and has been used for more than 3,000 years. It is the most commonly used and researched adaptogen.
Medicinal properties may include; tonic, rejuvenating, aphrodisiac, nervine, sedative, astringent, anti-anxiety, anti-depressant and anti-inflammatory. In India, Ashwagandha is known as the ‘strength of the stallion’ because it has traditionally been used to strengthen the immune system after illness.
Flavour Profile: Earthy, slightly bitter with a light legume flavour. Ashwagandha is traditionally consumed warm and can be sweetened by adding honey or maple syrup or try blending with chai, cardamom, turmeric, vanilla or cinnamon to create your own blend.
